Procurement Specialist 3 at Dematic Corporation

Requirements:

Dematic Corporation has an immediate need for a Procurement Specialist 3 at our Salt Lake City, UT office. The successful candidate should have working experience in a similar capacity. Experience within the material handling industry or another industry which is a close match to the material handling industry, is a plus. Strong experience with Excel is required. Experience with SAP is highly preferred.

Job Family Responsibilities:
Performs complex buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials; expedites as needed and serves as liaison between vendors and users, getting prior approval for purchases in excess of established limits. Resolves complex delivery, quality or other related problems with purchases and invoices. Updates project plans and purchasing systems; reviews and analyzes requisitions and supply plans for domestic and international purchases. Negotiates prices, terms and quality requirements; prepares requests for quotes and assists in the development of new supply sources; evaluates market conditions. Performs value analysis to identify cost improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
Performs full range of standard work for the professional field. Refers complex, unusual problems to others. Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.

Education:
Typically BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree. Certification may be required in some areas.

Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates knowledge of organizations business practices and issues. Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.

Provides general guidance or train support and/or professional staff.

JOB DUTIES:

Under the general supervision of the Logistics Captain and Fleet Manager:

  • Performs major and minor tune-ups on gasoline, diesel engines, and other mechanical equipment
  • Performs maintenance and repair work on gasoline and diesel engines, manual transmissions, differentials and other units and mechanical equipment
  • Conducts safety inspections of vehicles when required and on periodic checks
  • Performs mechanical work on suspensions and chassis systems, cooling, fuel, and electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Operates welding equipment to repair broken parts from automotive and other mechanized equipment
  • Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears
  • Repair emergency lighting or audible notification systems
  • Responds to requests for mechanical emergencies during and after normal business hours involving UFA equipment in the field
  • Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles/apparatus; tests maintenance and repair work to ensure satisfactory results
  • Maintains necessary records and forms on work performed through electronic tracking system (FASTER), completes work orders in a timely fashion.
  • Orders and picks up equipment and vehicle parts as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including filling in or assisting the Fleet Manager or Staff Engineer
  • Shall attend specialized training as directed by the Fleet Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Four years of experience in a field closely related to these duties; a two-year vocational or apprentice program may substitute for one year of the required experience.

The preferred candidate will possess knowledge of: basic business mathematics and business English; mechanical, and hydraulic systems associated with heavy fleet equipment; methods and techniques for servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment which operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles; fleet maintenance schedules and procedures.

In addition, the preferred candidate will be able to: recognize and determine causes of operating errors and deciding the proper course of action, while at the same time deciding what tools or equipment to use to repair said problems; run, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, fire apparatus, etc; analyze situations quickly and objectively; meet expected deadlines and attain measurable results; read work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing chart;  monitor and track information and data; communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, UFA staff, and staff and public officials from allied agencies and other jurisdictions; deal effectively and professionally with UFA suppliers, sales representatives and couriers; drive and operate light  fleet, and heavy fleet, vehicles in a manner prescribed by law.

The preferred candidate will have basic skills in the use of computers and basic business software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) as well as fleet maintenance management software or other record keeping software.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION:

The Unified Fire Authority is an independent entity, which operates under a merit system.  This is a full-time (40 hours/week) merit position with benefits. Work hours for this position are generally weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but will also include some evenings or week-ends, such as when attending special training or when responding to emergency incidents or serving an on-call rotation.

The successful applicant will be required to work effectively in a sometimes stressful environment, adverse physical or weather conditions, or during a disaster or major public emergency.  In addition, the successful applicant will be required to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time and to possess dexterity of hands and arms in order to perform job duties, and will also be required to lift and carry moderately heavy items (e.g. small equipment, compressors, packed boxes, bundles of hose, etc.) weighing up to 100 pounds.

The successful applicant will be required to provide their own tools and will be provided with a monthly allowance to use toward purchasing, or maintaining tools.  A copy of the required tool list will be provided to the successful applicant and may also be requested beforehand from Calogero Ricotta (ufajobs@gmail.com).
